Accomplishments

Firehouse Square

Recently, the Belmont City Council broke ground on Firehouse Square, which will redevelop an aging and long-vacant parcel in Downtown Belmont. Julia oversaw all stages of the project, including planning, design, and outreach, from both the Planning Commission and the City Council. The mixed-use project will provide new 66 affordable units with ground-level retail.

Belmont’s Development Future

While a Planning Commissioner and as Vice Mayor, Julia worked to lay the groundwork for a downtown we can be proud of: mixed-use developments with below-market-rate housing, modern zoning rules and guidelines, and increased pedestrian and bicycle corridors, all with an eye towards Belmont’s history and character.

Public Safety Subcommittee

In the wake of George Floyd’s tragic death at the hands of the Minneapolis police, Julia volunteered to serve on a subcommittee dedicated to reviewing the policies and procedures of the Belmont Police Department by holding several forums well-attended by the community’s public, teens, and youth. The subcommittee has made significant revisions to policy and has created several new programs. Meetings are ongoing.
